This viewpoint isn't called Garganta del Diablo (Devil's Throat) for nothing. We have been fortunate enough to arrive at Iguazu at just the right time.

Something quite fascinating happens every month at full moon.

The park rangers lead a group of the lucky few who dare on a midnight trip to look into the Devil's Throat. The night starts off with a ride on an open, unlit mini train through the dark jungle. A half hour walk over boardwalks covering the river follows, with only the moonlight to light the way. The climax is the destination —a daunting, overpowering, terrifying, intoxicating, alluring look into the depths of the Devil's Throat. Just you, a few others, moonlight and the fall. We tried to capture it on film in the picture below, but one must feel the energy of this place during this time in order to understand the experience.
